Scattered here and there across Scotland are towering “skyscrapers” built during the Iron Age – around 2,000 years ago. Called “brochs”, these structures were built of dry stone without mortar and have stood for thousands of years. To this day, archaeologists are still unable to determine exactly what their purpose was.

In an effort to find the answer, a group of archaeologists wanted to build a broch with their own hands, hoping to learn about the special construction techniques as well as the construction motives of their ancestors.
